Ikea make a hardwood dining chair for £25. It’s an ugly chair, but the cost of the chair is less than the cost of the hardwood required to make a chair if you buy it retail. This project is about using resources in an imaginative way. We start with an Ikea chair and view it as a canvas from which the designer paints a better chair.

The project is intended to be a family of chairs by different designers, all starting with the same raw material.
